Absolute design flexibility and high degrees of integration with other building systems.
Located on the Pacific Ocean along Playa Bonita, this beachfront hotel with its five beautifully landscaped pools and its luxury wellness centre, is the most exclusive of Panama. The resort consists of five storeys with 307 luxurious guest rooms and suites from where the tourists can enjoy stunning views.
The facility was from the outset considered one of major tourist destinations in Central America, not only because of the magnificent framework where it is based, but also because of its excellent environmental comfort, both in terms of thermal hygrometric and acoustic properties.
The Intercontinental is a very good example of what it can be done with the Emmedue Advanced Building System making use of its diverse constructive elements. Indeed, thanks to the Emmedue panels it has been possible to obtain the various architectural forms of the facility in question, even the most complex ones.
The resort has been constructed with the Emmedue Single Panel, which has been used for the realisation of internal partitions and claddings, as proof of the excellent integrability of the Emmedue System with other building systems. More specifically, for the construction of the Intercontinental Hotel, the Emmedue Panel was integrated in the steel structure to complete the recreational areas, and also in the structure made of reinforced concrete for the construction of the multi-storey building that houses the rooms. This choice made it possible to obtain a substantial reduction in building time, by virtue of the assembly speed of the Emmedue Panel and the ease of construction with them. This can also been translated in a notable reduction in costs.
Besides demonstrating an excellent integrability, within the framework of this project the Emmedue Panel has proved, once again, its great design flexibility. Actually, since the Emmedue Advanced Building System is equipped with a complete range of building elements, not only it is suitable for constructing buildings of any type, but it also allows to easily obtain any geometric shape. The realisation of the domes in the main building was identified as a major challenge for Emmedue, brilliantly accomplished thanks to the Curved Panel: a special panel that is produced in the factory in a flat shape and arranged to be curved on site. This panel allowed fulfilling the covering of the domes in a fast and convenient way, while ensuring excellent results in terms of thermal resistance and a great environmental comfort.
The decision of adopting the Emmedue Building System has undoubtedly allowed the construction of an extremely harmonious facility with considerable aesthetic qualities, but above all safe, high-performing and that lasts over time.
